As we had informed you previously that Indian ethnic are one of the major races in Malaysia. Today we will be introducing to you another Malaysian breakfast dish or snack dish – Putu Mayam.

Putu Mayam is a rice flour noodle, steamed and eaten with sweetened toppings such as grated coconut and gula melaka (palm sugar), or with savory dishes such as curry, stew or chutney.

Putu Mayam is extremely popular in Malaysia. Its appearance is like that of noodles, and it is known as “string hoppers.”

The dish is usually served as a breakfast item or dessert, and traditionally, putu mayam is served on a banana leaf, for easier consumption.
